This recording of 6 nights of live concerts from Dublin’s Point theatre was produced and recorded by Tyrone Productions in 1997.
The series was commissioned by PBS in association with RTE had won the Bronze D’or at the GOLDEN ROSE FESTIVAL in Montreux in 1998.
These 6 nights showcased the very best of Ireland’s musical talent.
Gael Force began with a virtuoso performance by world star Sinead O’Connor and ended with the quintessentially Celtic sound of Clannad and Brian Kennedy. Through the week audiences were thrilled by the Riverdance Dance Company with lead dancers Joanne Doyle and Colm O’Sé, Sharon Shannon, Frances Black, The Afro Celt Sound System, Nomos and Altan. The Chieftains were joined by Asley MacIsaac, Carlos Nunez and Canadian Family - Leahy. De Dannan teamed up with Mary Black, Maura O’Connell, Eleanor Shanley and Tommy Fleming for favourites such as Maura O’Connell’s arrangement of Maggie, Mary Black singing Song for Ireland and a magnificent performance of Hard Times with Tommy Fleming and Eleanor Shanley joining Maura O’Connell and Mary Black. Audiences were entertained to a full night of Christy Moore at his absolute best.
This series of concerts was released on DVD/CD and for broadcast.
